I've been asked to be the chair of our social justice committee at church so that might be happening, pending board approval. I'm very excited about it, so fingers crossed! So in addition to implementing plans for organizing the church for the upcoming pride parade, which is a huge amount of work, I've been kicking some ideas around for social justice posters to try to get people involved. These are just rough drafts.

Thursday night Jamie and I made the most awesome Texmex! We pulled out our supply of masa and made corn tortillas, then we fried them to make chalupa shells. We made homemade refried beans and we already had salsa we'd made earlier in the week. OMG! So good. My mom's been having difficulty finding tamales at any of the restaurants they've gone to lately in Austin (which is very strange) so now she has an inkling of what I'm going through in Indiana, living like an animal.
Last night Jordan and I went to a party our friends D. & D. gave. We crafted some beaded things and it was really fun. I was totally in the bead zone. There were a bunch of interesting people there and D. is writing a book about the effects of global warming on humans so the conversation was both fascinating and depressing. :) Tomorrow we're going to church where I'm helping teach the lesson to some of the younger children (we're going to learn about what families look like) and Jamie's speaking to the Senior High class about the parade. After church we're going to a Memorial Day picnic and Monday we've been invited to another Memorial Day picnic, but I don't know if we'll go to that one.
Ok. 1 a.m.--time for bed! Oh, and for all readers back in civilization, we're paying almost $4 a gallon here. Not happy about it!
