Miscellaneous Photos

Claudia got a cute new winter hat and she wears it constantly. It's pink plaid with white fur.

For Valentine's Day this year, we gave the girls a box of heart-shaped candy and a card at breakfast, as usual, and also as usual, we did our treasure hunt after dinner. New thing this year, but it's going to be an annual thing forevermore, Jamie gave each of the girls flowers. These are Claudia's:

Miscellaneous weekend

The wind is blowing, Jamie's studying, Sammy's at her mom's, Claudia had a sleepover and a birthday party this weekend, Jordan had a friend sleep over on Friday night and then Jordan slept over at the friend's house last night and I went to see The Vagina Monologues last night. If you've never seen it before, I'll save you the trouble:

It was mildly amusing at times, but tired and unimaginative and overly-earnest. I think I was supposed to feel empowered at the end, but I really just felt annoyed.

And now I'm off to buy groceries. I bought some non-disposable bags from Target this week that are very cute to pack our groceries in from now on and we start recycling this week (yes, it's true, we haven't been recycling) so I'm going to task Jordan with creating some bins.

Super Fun!

We had such fun at the movie tonight and it was snowing when we walked out of the theater.

Theater!

Tonight I'm taking four girls (Sammy, Jordan and they're each bringing a friend) to the Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers 3D IMAX movie. We've been advised to get there an hour early to get good seats and that good seats equal back seats so it's easier to dance. Fingers crossed that my camera feels like working tonight!

Next upcoming theater event--The Vagina Monologues on the 15th! One of our friends is performing in it and you should have seen Jamie's face when I told him I wanted to go--it was pretty hilarious! He immediately claimed he "has to study" so he "can't go". Fine!

Monday Monday

It's Monday and I'm exhausted (in a good way!) from the weekend! Claudia had a blast at a youth convention in Cincinnati but we had to get up *early* on Saturday to get her to the drop off location and Jordan had choir on Sunday morning *early* but they're singing something with a banjo, so that's pretty fun. Jamie got a ton of studying done so that was very good, indeed.

Jordan decided she wanted bangs after all. Cute!

The Weekend

Pretty ok weekend. On Friday night, Claudia went to a going away party for her friend, K. who moved to California this weekend. The littles and Claudia got haircuts on Saturday and I took all three to the mall and that was actually pretty fun.

Jamie studied all weekend but took a few breaks to eat, get a haircut, pick the littles up at church so I could take Claudia to an ice skating thing with her sunday school class, play backgammon with Sammy, rent a movie for us to watch with Claudia tomorrow night after Jordan's in bed (Sam's at her mom's tomorrow night) and teach Jordan some blues guitar.

Blogging

We've had some deaths in my family recently, one senseless and spectacularly brutal, and one oddly unexpected so I just haven't felt like blogging. I want to be home in Texas with my family right now and I can't and it's hard.

Other than that, everything's going really well. Jamie's on vacation this week studying for his upcoming actuarial exam, I got some really excellent medical news recently and all three girls are happy and fabulous.

Friday night

It's Friday! Wooo! Jamie's out for drinks with an old friend tonight, and Sammy's at a birthday party/sleepover and Claudia, Jordan and I went out for chinese and then rented movies. We got Highschool Musical II, The Royal Tennenbaums, Funny Girl, Casa Blanca, the Bourne (whatever the new one is) and My Cousin Vinnie. Dinner was really fun--Claudia and Jordan were making me laugh a lot.

The weekend's going to be a lot of shopping, cleaning and organizing, work I brought home, Jamie's studying like crazy and the kids all have art being shown in an art show on Sunday afternoon. We're supposed to take hors d'oeuvres to that. I should figure out what we're taking!

I've hardly taken any photos this week, but here's Bobo hanging out with the blankeys and the monkeys.

People have been asking if our blog header is something Jamie or I painted. We do so wish! But, no, it's an Anselm Kiefer (and I need to throw a credit up around here somewhere).

This is the Kiefer painting that first caught my attention.
