Finally a moment to blog!
The delightful Jason and Leah were here last Friday night and that was very fun. It was nice because they're family, so even though the house was a wreck and the dog got out and Jordan got a little melt-downish towards bedtime, they were just part of the family and rolled with it but they're also just the sort of people we would choose for friends.
Saturday was shopping, cleaning, reading, tennis and stuff like that. All three girls got much-needed summer clothes and Jamie took the littles to see Meet the Robinsons in 3D. 3D glasses are no longer red and blue. I have no idea why.
Sunday, we went to church early so Sammy, Jordan and I could practice with the children's choir while Jamie and Claudia made a McDonald's run. The church service was run by the senior high youth and there was a bridging ceremony for the three graduating highschool seniors. I spent the entire time vascillating between marveling over what cool kids they are and trying not to cry over the sunrise/sunset-ness of it all. They all seem to be smart, caring, open-minded, accomplished and confident. These are kids who already get out there and do things and are all set to live really large lives and it was touching to hear how so many of the congregation had taken an interest and been an influence in their upbringing over the years. Sammy and Jordan learned another story out of the "Hebrew Bible" about Jonah and the Whale and Claudia had a lesson on racism.
Sunday afternoon Beverly and Walter drove down from Ft. Wayne to spend a few hours with us. We had such a great time (I got so lucky in the in-law department, I'm telling you!) and the only bad thing is the visit was so short.
