Claudia's meet-the-teacher night was last night and I am so seriously excited about her 8th grade year!
In science right now they're doing the egg drop project and later in the year they're gong to do the Rube Goldberg machine contest.
In social studies they're going to learn about 19th century architecture and each create a model, and they're going to learn about the 1840 election and they'll get to use actual newspapers from that year to gather information instead of just a textbook.
English is a literature class this year and they're starting out with Fahrenheit 451 which is a lovely companion to what she's reading independently right now, 1984.
Claudia's going to play in the pep band this year so she'll be performing at basketball games.
Her Spanish class will count as a highschool credit, so that's very good. If she stays with it she will fit six years of Spanish in before she graduates highschool.
And best for last, the 8th grade class is flying to Washington D.C. in February and will spend three days there touring the city. How cool is that?!?
