Affecting things

RFK Funeral Train

Paul Fusco took a series of photos as he rode on the train that carried Robert Kennedy's body back to Massachusetts that are now on display at Danziger Projects in NYC. From the press release: "The resulting images are one of the most powerful and affecting series of photographs ever taken. Shot on Kodachrome film – a film with a particularly vibrant palette favored at the time by photojournalists – Fusco's pictures blend the spontaneous look of snapshots with artistic precision of the decisive moment." There are a lot of photos on their website. You should go take a look. The colors are amazing and individually and especially collectively, they're very affecting. I would love to see this exhibit in person.

My Husband

I was more than touched at the pictoral love note Jamie made me on Friday. He even posted it at a discussion forum we go to. Sweet is what he is. I've been feeling very emotional ever since. I am lucky beyond imagining to have found the lid to my pot--someone who gets me and I get him and we laugh so much all the time. He's the man I argue with over who should die first because neither of us wants the other to be lonely. He's the Jack to my Rose and I would shove him into the icy waters after the shipwreck because...hey! Why did she do that, anyway? Life is good and I am so, so blessed and he is good for me in every way.

Kyran Pittmans' Hearts and Bones blog post

Like so many of Kyran Pittman's writing on her blog, Notes to Self, This post really hit home.
