Miscellaneous Tuesday

I had lunch with Jordan yesterday. Luckily I called the school before I went and found out that Happy Meals are verboten, so I took her the usual turkey sandwich on wheat, fruit, etc. So, that was a drag because she knew Sam got one on Friday when I went to lunch with her and it had a very cool Polly Pocket toy in it, but I guess it's good that this school is trying to teach good food habits (heh! Unlike Jordan's own mother!) which is why, well, along with not wanting to demonstrate the breaking of the rules, I resisted my first impulse to buy a happy meal and cram it into her lunch box (down with The Man!). Aside from that we had a very fun lunch and I met some of her new friends.

Things at our house are going along really well. The kids are settling into morning and after school routines and just life in general. So it's been really nice and we're doing lots of things together, like learning Spanish vocabulary, cooking, singing, dancing, reading, tennis and different projects.

Jamie's reading all of us one of the Hank the Cow Dog books, he and Sam are reading Harry Potter and Jordan and I are reading A Wrinkle in Time.

Last week we made some really cool polymer clay beads and tonight after I get back from Jordan's school night (no kids allowed because we're discussing the curriculum) Claudia, Jordan and I are going to start on a project for each of them that they've been asking to do. Jordan wants to start on her quilt kit and Claudia and I are going to start making stuffed animals. Her most hated school lunch last year was "Cheesy Fish" so I think I'm going to make a cheesy fish stuffed animal. When Sam gets home Wednesday she and I will pick out a project to work on, too.

One other great thing about everyone settling in is Jamie and I have time to do some of our own stuff these days, which is *so* nice!
