Well, summer reading program cards were turned into the library
yesterday, thus signaling the approaching end of the summer holiday.
We're now working on picking out school clothes and school supplies,
and just gearing up for school in general.
And speaking of, we're now experiencing our first major challenge in the process of creating this new family. Not that everything's been smooth sailing, rainbows and sunshine, but it's been what we expected and it's been really neat to watch the girls progress in this even week to week. They're all three such awesome people!
Anyway, for reasons I won't go into here, Sam and Jordan won't be going to the same school. It's amazing the effect this one thing has on everything! We'll have three kids in three different schools and two different school districts, which will make life, um, yeah……interesting. That's three different times to start school, two different sets of school holidays, three different PTO's to volunteer for, three
different school fundraisers to mess with, three separate sets of homework to deal with, and school parties and evening events and……wow. And that's not even considering what it will do to our work schedules, vacation times, etc.
I worked on our family calendar yesterday and it's really something.
You wouldn't even believe August. For instance, next Monday night we have Jordan's *and* Sam's meet-the-teacher things so we'll have to leave Jordan's a little early to dash over to Sam's.
(Logistics aside, there are emotional issues cropping up too, of course. I'm sure this will get worse before it gets better, but we've been good at dealing with all of this stuff so far (yay, us!) so we'll deal with it and move on.)
I registered Jordan yesterday and will register Claudia tomorrow. Claudia's going into middle school this year, so everything changes for her. She'll be changing classes for each period, have seven different teachers and a locker. Also, I think there will be band.
